“When I approach a child, he/she inspires in me two sentiments: tenderness for what he/she is and respect for what he/she may become.” Louis Pasteur

Hi. I’m Anne. I’m a pediatric occupational therapist. But you can also call me your new playmate and cheerleader.

I am someone who helps children (from birth to 12 years old) learn to regulate their emotions, or improve their gross or fine motor skills through play. Parents come to me looking for help for children who have emotional meltdowns and who have difficulty believing that they can change. I also have extensive experience helping children with sensory sensitivities, as well as children with physical disabilities or concerns.

Children meet with me weekly in my clinic, which is a large gym with wooden floors, mats, a climbing structure, a slide, and hookups for many different kinds of swings. I provide specialized activities designed to help young brains learn, grow, and organize effectively. Some activities are completed at the clinic. I teach parents how to practice other activities with their child at home to support their learning and growth.

In pediatric occupational therapy, we emphasize having fun so that children can engage, focus, and practice skills that promote healthy development, and integrate the new sensations and movements that they learn. My diverse training in neurology, anatomy, psychology, neuromotor development, and art allows me to develop comprehensive treatment programs to meet children’s needs. Parents share their concerns and insights with me, and I listen closely and work with parents to establish therapy goals designed to help their child turn their areas of weakness into strengths.

Approaching my clients with a positive mindset and providing lots of encouragement inspires my clients to feel positively about themselves. I meet a child where they are, give them the attention they need, and help them progress at their own pace. Parents and I are often pleasantly surprised by children’s innate ability to seek out what they need to learn, and by how quickly the therapy techniques stimulate change.

I’ve worked as a pediatric occupational therapist for over 30 years in various settings, including a residential treatment center for children with disabilities, school systems, a hospital NICU, and private clinics. I continue to learn and develop my skillset because I’m passionate about the work that I do.

I am also a Certified Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) Provider. The SSP is an evidence-based listening program designed to reduce sound sensitivities, improve behavioral regulation and social engagement, and help retune the nervous system.
